Korea plans to put 200,000 AI robots into service by 2030, starting with more than 1,700 government purchases in 2027

South Korea's National Advanced Strategic Industry Committee adopted a plan on September 30 to deploy 200,000 AI robots by 2030, about 15,000 through public procurement and 185,000 through private adoption. The state will buy more than 1,700 units in 2027 for public safety, labour-short sites and education, and will widen purchases to public enterprises and local governments from 2028.

EU moves AI-driven machinery out of the AI Act's main track and gives robot makers until August 2028

The EU's Digital Omnibus on AI, Regulation (EU) 2026/1744, was published on July 24, 2026 and took effect on July 27. It delays high-risk AI obligations to December 2, 2027 for stand-alone systems and August 2, 2028 for AI built into products, and shifts machinery, including industrial robots, into a lighter AI Act regime whose substance will instead be written into the Machinery Regulation by delegated act.

China orders every province and central state firm to put humanoids to work in real sites, targeting 100 use cases and 10,000-unit deployment capacity by end-2026

China's industry ministry and its state-asset regulator have launched a 2026 special action that requires each provincial region to open at least 20 real-world training scenes and each central state-owned enterprise at least 10. The notice, dated June 3 and published June 8, sets a year-end goal of more than 100 high-value application scenarios and the ability to deploy humanoid and embodied AI robots at a scale of tens of thousands of units.
