Universal Robots
Odense-based maker of collaborative robot arms and the PolyScope software that programs them, owned by Teradyne since 2015 and part of its Teradyne Robotics group.
Universal Robots was founded in 2005 and is headquartered in Odense, Denmark. On 13 May 2015 Teradyne agreed to buy the company for $285 million net of cash acquired, plus up to $65 million more if performance targets running through 2018 were met; at that point Universal Robots had sold more than 4,000 cobots and booked 2014 revenue of over $38 million, according to the announcement. In its annual report for 2025 Teradyne said it had sold more than 110,000 cobots worldwide under the Universal Robots brand, and the company describes itself as employing over 1,000 people. Universal Robots sits in Teradyne Robotics alongside MiR, the mobile robot maker Teradyne bought in 2018, and Teradyne reported Robotics segment revenue of $100 million for the second quarter of 2026. On 14 September 2026 the company introduced its seventh-generation platform, built around the UR10g-1750, UR17g-1300 and UR18g-950 arms, a CB7 Core controller that it says delivers 40% more computing power in a 30% smaller footprint, a lighter teach pendant, PolyScope X software, ROS 2 communication and a redesigned tool flange for vision and sensing, and it said its robots are in more than 100,000 industrial deployments worldwide.
