KUKA was founded in Augsburg in 1898 by Johann Joseph Keller and Jakob Knappich and now operates as KUKA SE & Co. KGaA, a legal form that took effect on its entry in the commercial register on 10 October 2025. The group builds industrial robots and automation systems and runs intralogistics and warehouse automation through Swisslog, reporting through segments for Systems, Robotics, Swisslog, Swisslog Healthcare, China and KUKA Digital. Guangdong Midea Electric Co., Ltd., part of Midea Group, became KUKA's sole shareholder when a squeeze-out of the remaining minority holders at a cash compensation of EUR 80.77 per share took effect on 8 November 2022. For financial year 2025 KUKA reported sales revenue of EUR 3,897.2 million, orders received of EUR 4,157.3 million and EBIT of EUR 58.7 million, with 14,542 employees at year end.
