Exotec was founded in 2015 by Romain Moulin and Renaud Heitz and is headquartered in Lille, France. It designs, manufactures and integrates the Skypod system, an automated storage and retrieval system in which robots climb the racking to fetch bins, orchestrated by its Deepsky warehouse execution software. The company says more than 75 brands use its systems, that Skypod is deployed at over 200 customer sites and that it passed $1 billion in sales in 2024. Exotec raised $90 million in a Series C led by 83North in September 2020, with Dell Technologies Capital and existing investors Iris Capital and Breega. In January 2022 it announced a $335 million Series D led by Goldman Sachs Asset Management's growth equity business, with 83North, Dell Technologies Capital and Bpifrance's Large Venture fund, and said the round valued it at $2 billion.
