ABB Robotics
ABB's robotics division, supplier of industrial and collaborative robots, autonomous mobile robots, controllers and software, which ABB agreed in October 2025 to sell to SoftBank Group.
ABB Robotics is the robotics division of the Swiss engineering group ABB and sells articulated, collaborative, delta, SCARA, paint and palletizing robots together with autonomous mobile robots, controllers, software and services. ABB said the division generated revenue of $2.3 billion in 2024, about 7% of group revenue, at an operational EBITA margin of 12.1%, and employed about 7,000 people. On 8 October 2025 ABB announced an agreement to sell the division to SoftBank Group for an enterprise value of $5.375 billion, abandoning its earlier plan to spin the business off as a separately listed company; SoftBank said it would acquire all shares of a new Zurich-based holding company created to house the business, which division president Marc Segura is to lead. The deal needs regulatory clearance including in the European Union, China and the United States, and in its second-quarter 2026 results ABB said it expected the divestment to be completed in the second half of 2026. ABB said it would report Robotics as discontinued operations from the fourth quarter of 2025 and that its Machine Automation division would become part of the Process Automation business area.
